Stories of the Building
Thursday 3rd December
We explore the role of memory and archives, and ask whether we can accurately remember the Arts Centre’s past. How can we claim to know the building if memories are fallible? Who writes the history that gets cemented in our minds, and what might their biases be? How do we construct a history from incomplete archives?
Friday 4th
December
Today we explore our own relationship to the present-day ACCA, and return to the vision of Dr. Walter Eysselinck (Director of the Centre, 1960s). In its suspended state, how can ACCA re-connect to its heart? Where does the heart of the building lie in the first place? Why do we care about the Arts Centre at all?
